My first book is entitled The Challenge for Africa by Wangari Maathai. I wanted to start off by choosing a book that was written by an African and on a topic to which I could relate. I have heard and read about Wangari Maathai, but knew very little about her and her work. Because she is from Kenya, I knew I could relate to her and at least have a reference point on a few levels because of the time I spent in Kenya.
